MarionZurbach

Marion was born in Martigues, France. She started her training at the École Nationale Supérieure de Danse in Marseille, before moving on to the École-Atelier Rudra Béjart Lausanne, where she began her professional career with Maurice Béjart’s Compagnie M. 

Between 2003 and 2015, she was a member of the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, the Ballet National de Marseille, and soloist at the Bern Ballet and the Tanzcompagnie Konzert Theater Bern.  

In 2015, Marion founded the Bern-based artistic association UNPLUSH together with Vittorio Bertolli and started to choreograph for the company. Since its creation, UNPLUSH has collaborated regularly with the Dampfzentrale Bern, received the 3 years support of PRAIRIE (Migros Culture Percentage’s co-production model) and was awarded the June Johnson Dance Prize in 2019.

In 2018, Marion completed her Master of Theatre and Performance degree at Bern University of the Arts (HKB).

Since 2019, she regularly accompanies artists as a choreographer (Cologne Opera) or dramaturge (Urban Dansdagen Festival Eindhoven). In 2019/21, she created "Les Promises", a film made with teenage women from the northern districts of Marseille. Since 2020, she gives workshops to teenagers in partnership with Far° Nyon, Triangle Astérides & FRÆME.

In 2021, she takes part in the creation "Sea Change" by Boris Charmatz, as a dancer and assistant (MIF Manchester). With Unplush, she creates "Biche", a piece co-produced by the Dampfzentrale Bern and the far° Nyon.

In 2022-23 she creates "Reef" for the Tanz Ensemble Luzerner Theater and "Les Héritier‧x" co-produced by the Dampfzentrale Bern.
