Coproduced by is a choreographic work created in co-authorship with the ensemble of TANZ Bielefeld. Based on a detailed creative protocol, the piece is conceived as a laboratory and unfolds in seven experiments. Choreographic scores structure the work from written movements to improvisations. They provide impulses for gaze, posture, dynamics, and spatial paths, while giving the dancers freedom for their own interpretation. This makes both the individuality of the performers and the identity of the company visible.

Inspired by Donna Haraway’s philosophy of “Kinship,”, the work focuses on sensitive presence and the connections between humans. In an initial phase of research, Marion Zurbach transferred this sense of connectedness to humans and matter and objects —specifically to old props, and stage elements from the theatre archive. From this interaction, a choreographic vocabulary emerged, which was later applied to interpersonal relationships. The dancers respond to each other, anticipate actions, form temporary alliances, or set counterpoints. Gazes open or focus, movements delay, reverse, or intensify through repetition. Each performance unfolds uniquely in the moment.

The work is accompanied by composer and singer Zooey Agro, whose vocal practice is also based on reactivity, sensory perception, and shared presence. During the process, the dancers’ voices were recorded and mixed together with sounds from the objects, creating a dense, textured soundscape. Coproduced by is a sensorial journey that sharpens our attention, heightens our perception, and challenges our empathy.
